People who have been tagged should write the answers on their blog and replace any question they dislike with a new, original question. If you read this and have the time and interest to do it yourself, consider yourself tagged...

1. How many clowns would it take to freak you out?
I like clowns, so would only be freaked out if there were enough to trigger my general fear of crowds.

2. What is your favorite card game?
Bridge. I think I have only played twice this year, which is not enough.

3. Tea or coffee?
I drink both equally happily. Although one past boyfriend believed I used them as code, so if I asked him back for tea, that was exactly what I meant, whereas an invitation to coffee was much more promising!

4. Five things you can touch right now without getting up.
Laptop computer (obviously), old wooden desk which belonged to [livejournal.com profile] hearthfire in her childhood, new stripy cardigan, battered cushion with musical notes on it and the lovely silver carpet I had put into my study.

5. You have to be somewhere on the fourth floor of a building. Do you take the lift/elevator?
Elevator, unless the staircase is unusually attractive!

6. How do you feel about your reflection?
I'm happy with the way I look. I'm curvier than I was in my twenties, but my skin is much better, plus I'm more relaxed and have lost my frown lines. Mostly my reflection is a useful way of checking how well my outfit works.

7. What are you thinking about right now?
Whether it is possible to put too many lavender plants in one garden. So far I've planted five english lavenders, two french and one dutch. I'm still very tempted to go and buy more.

8. Write the first word that comes to mind.
Green. The walls of the study are green, my skirt is green and the view from the window is mostly green.

9. Dog person or cat person?
Cat person.

10. If you came across $2,000 (or other currency) would you keep it or turn it in?
Turn it in. I wouldn't enjoy spending it unless it was legitimately mine.

11. What was the last thing that you bought?
Lavender plants!

12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I'm lucky enough to have the money to go to most places. Right now there is nowhere I would rather be than here.

13. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully still living here with [livejournal.com profile] zandev but with an interesting full time job.

14. Last book you read?
Have almost finished Water, Ice & Stone: Science and Memory on the Antarctic Lakes by Bill Green and highly recommend it.

15. What are you doing this weekend?
Weather permitting, cleaning out the brick barbecue and then cooking lovely food on it.

16. What's your dream job?
Being an academic researcher, but with no deadlines, no chasing around for funding and hardly any students! My job in the paper industry came pretty close at times and I'm still a little sad it's gone.

17. How are you?
Pretty happy; I'm much fitter than I was a week or so ago and the sun is shining.

I now have a theory that coffee was never intended to be drunk at all and it's all due to a horrible cultural misunderstanding in Victorian England that people started doing so! ;-)

What were they doing in the 17th century then?

Something the Victorians prefer not to talk about! ;-)
