Socialising with colleagues

Last night I attended a leaving dinner for a colleague who is setting up as a consultant. She already has some business lined up and seemed pretty optimistic. It was good to see my friends from the logistics department (I had an 18 month secondment there) although it did revive memories of the scary death march project which meant I couldn't take any holiday for months. It also reminded me how much happier and more relaxed I am now. And inspired me to organise a departmental Christmas lunch, in order to get to know my current colleagues better.

This weekend should see lots of visitors and I am looking forward to it. My car is fixed and I will be picking it up tomorrow.

Christmas lunch is good! I miss that sort of thing.

Getting to know colleagues is good. Some of the places i've worked in have had antisocial bunches though. It was worst when the office was on the edge of a village and almost everyone drove home ruling out evenings and none of them ever wanted to do anything at lunch time. The London civil service was pretty much the opposite though :-)
