Having tried both recently, I find it much harder to walk a mile in flip flops than in 3-inch heels. Is it just me? (I do know that there are much better options than either of these.)

Not just you - I can't walk in flipflops (or similar styles) at all, really. I'd prefer to be barefoot, even on pavement.

3 inch heels would leave me aching but I'd get there, at least.

Well it certainly isn't me - I can't walk 5ft in 3 inch heels. I don't like walking that far in normal flip flops either (Birkenstocks fine) but at least I get further than 5 ft :-)

I can now walk more than 5ft in 1.5 inch heels :-)

It isn't just you; I find flipflops very uncomfortable, I always feel like I'm struggling to keep them on....

I can't help but be reminded of the recent sport relief mile by Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode - they did their mile around the Eton quad (Chariots of Fire location) while reviewing the top ten films - You could hear the slapping of Mark Kermode's flip-flops as they sprinted for the finish line!! I suspect that would have been harder in heels.
