Escalating gaming

This weekend was dominated by games, which steadily increased in complexity. [livejournal.com profile] huggyrei and [livejournal.com profile] telpher turned up unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, so I warmed up with some lighthearted card games (Spooks and Corsari). Puerto Rico in the evening went well. The company was great and I built a factory on turn three, which meant I was rolling in cash for the entire game. If only real life was like that.

Britannia on Sunday was an eight hour marathon and I'm still slightly amazed I found two other people fool enough to play the full version with me. We kept the Romans under control and the Angles and Saxons got exterminated surprisingly quickly. So the minor powers were key and I think the Welsh brought me victory! Well, them and the Norman invasion...

must try the factory strategy myself some time - the trading strategy really didn't work out for me like i'd hoped it would... and nothing foolish about Britannia, i'd have been there myself if not for prior Sunday plans !
