Words and pictures
Nov. 23rd, 2006 04:51 pmThe visit to my old college last night included an interesting talk by the poet Jenny Joseph, about work she has done in collaboration with visual artists. There are some lovely paintings (the Persephone pictures by Nina Carroll) on display until 8th December and I would recommend a visit. The photographs by Robert Mitchell are also impressive.
You probably know Jenny Joseph as the author of Warning, which begins with "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple". She is now old, but rather than anything colourful, she was wearing a well-cut beige suit. I suspect she avoids purple like the plague. My own muse has deserted me for the moment, but perhaps if I spend enough time with creative people I'll find that my inspiration returns.
