Flaming pancakes and Hot Fuzz
Feb. 23rd, 2007 05:15 pmI spent a pleasant evening last Friday helping
kissifa to warm her lovely new house and drinking excellent port. The rest of the weekend was mostly filled with films and board games. I was perturbed to find that the visual effects in Renaissance (particularly the animated strobe lighting at the start) messed with my head terribly and triggered my first migraine of the year. I'm fine with real life strobe lighting, so I'm baffled.
On Tuesday I had a bunch of people round for pancakes. We set fire to some of them (yes, deliberately) which was entertaining and it turns out that Cointreau gives them a good flavour. I still prefer maple syrup on them though.
I saw Hot Fuzz at the cinema on Wednesday. It was an amusing parody throughout, although the first hour was a bit slow. The big shoot-out was well worth the price of admission by itself. There were two gruesome moments in the film which seemed unnecessary.
