Bridge, juggling and other entertainments

A group of us had dinner at Mario's on Friday evening. I had their special aubergine thing, which was as wonderful as ever. After dinner we were joined by M who was over from Amsterdam for the weekend, although sadly without his lovely new wife.

I cooked dinner on Saturday for zandev, M and a surprise visitor from London. Some more people came over for drinks afterwards. There was lots of entertaining conversation and some juggling with random objects by _yakumo_ and i_ludicrous. A small plush cthulhu seemed particularly easy to catch. Thankfully nothing was broken, but I did have flashbacks to the explosive results of metame juggling with milk bottles this summer.

During bridge on Sunday afternoon quetzyl bid and made a grand slam and a small slam, both in no trumps. I was part of the outclassed opposition. Blackwood seems good for no trumps but less reliable at finding slams in suit contracts. Can anyone suggest any useful alternative conventions?

We won the pub quiz on Sunday evening and then went to G&D's to spend our winnings. Overall, a great weekend.
