I think her second (Human Croquet) is most like BtSatM, although it's more-overt magic realism, and it's not quite as good. You're welcome to borrow, if you ever feel up to giving her another chance.
I like the detective ones, but I'm actively in favour of separate threads that all start to intertwine, and liking is not the same as thinking they're actually any good ;-)
(Btw, I don't know if you know, but the child murder bit is meant to be based on the murder of Josie Russell's mother and sister. Not that this excuses the things you complain about.)
