For the last ten days, I have been driving a hire car. After some minor negotiation (no, an automatic Corsa is not equivalent to a manual MR2) they gave me a six-month-old Tigra to play with. There was lots of paperwork but they gave me coffee and doughnuts while I filled it in :) The Tigra is a two seater convertible but not quite a sports car. The suspension is too soft, it's too tall, it has an enormous boot, the engine is in the front and the handling isn't quite sharp enough. It's a lively and enjoyable drive though and has lots of gadgets to play with (heated seats still freak me out a bit!). The styling has grown on me but I still don't like the fake leather trim.

Anyway, I now have my lovely car back. I was thinking this morning how much I like the more direct contact with the road and feeling the engine throbbing just inches behind me. I approve of the way it is mostly just two seats and an engine and you aren't transporting lots of extraneous material around with you. And I love stroking the leather steering wheel :) Ahem. I'll stop now.

Mmmm cars! I sort of love 'em and hate 'em at the same time. (Groan!)Sometimes I think I should ditch my Nissan Algea for summat a bit swank, then remide myself of the Hornet languishing in my garage on SORN. (Groan again.)

There's nothing wrong with it, but I can't afford/justify running 2 cars at the moment, especially as I barely use the Nissan Algea (my workhorse vehicle) at all now I'm able to walk to work.
Having said that, the Hornet won't start now it's been sat unused for so long, but it's nothing a good thorough service wouldn't sort out.

If I had sense, I ought to sell it, but I love it too much! And I don't expect to be in Liverpool forever so I may be in a situation again one day where running it again might be feasible. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
:-(

Hornet couldn't cope with my (fairly) regularish long trips to see mates, and I do like to be free to jump in my car and be on a mates doorstep in an emergency; be it a tragic upset needing tea or sympathy or a Help! Cake! Emergency!
The Algae is so seedy I can park it anywhere in Liverpool without fear. Maybe I'll splash out on summat half decent when it's totally fallen apart. (It is my plan, though not a pressing one.)

Hornet is too much of an unreliable toy really, when I had a commute, I'd run it every Friday, or weekly to the supermarket, it can't really be trusted with too much alas. :-(
It is my White Elephant, it fits that definition far too well.

Hurrah for car love!

I'm glad it's home safe.
