Board games this weekend?

I've played lots of short games recently (Carcassonne, Settlers, Trans Europa) which I always enjoy. Especially when I win, of course :) However, I would like to find people who are up for longer games this weekend. Puerto Rico is good. I could cope with Arkham Horror. But what I really want is to find people with a day to spare and a desire to help me christen my new set of Britannia. It's finally been reissued! Anyone interested in any of the above?

Do you recommend Carcassonne, by the way? I've been toying with getting it for some time. Settlers a 'short game'- you're scaring me now. Would be interested in games some time, though we'll be playing some with chums in London over the weekend. Quiz tonight?

I think you would enjoy Carcassonne. I should be at the quiz tonight, so I can tell you more about it then. As for my definition of short games, I was including those which can be played in under an hour, assuming everyone knows what they are doing and there isn't too much dithering.

Yes! I want to play games! Although Sunday has been eaten by Legacy. I'm skipping Larp this Saturday due to being Tired, but a change is as good as a break (as they say).

What's Trans Europa like? I've played Carcassonne and Settlers (and love both). Never heard of Arkham Horror or Puerto Rico, but I want to play more board games!

Great! Will try to sort something out with you for Saturday.

Trans Europa is an easy game (much simpler than Ticket to Ride) where you connect cities with train tracks. It generally only takes about 30 minutes and is usually good-natured as there is no real way to dump on other players.

very much interested - but can't make most of this weekend. busy Sunday, could make Saturday evening, could possibly make Saturday afternoon if sufficiently tempted away from larp ( amount of tempting required largely dependent on how awake i feel Saturday morning :)
